COMPLETE REMISSION

Just back from GD's office.

SPEP analysis of blood: "No evidence of monoclonal protein."

Immunofixation: "No monoclonal protein."

Light-chain analysis of urine: "All protein is albumin with no globulin."

That, my friends, is complete remission.

I am waiting to hear these words from BB's mouth after he sees all this plus the PET and MRI before I throw a huge party, but that's not going to stop me from having one hell of a great bottle of wine this evening.

The road is far from over but the worst is behind me, I believe -- how nice it is to say that, as opposed to "well, let's just see how long this lasts" which is the best I would have if I'd gone for treatment other than Total Therapy.

THANK YOU, all of you, for your love, kindness, support, encouragement, prayers, positive thoughts, and help. You have all been so important to my getting this far.

I will report back from Arkansas in about eight days. Until then, my friends, be well!!!

  1. Congratulations! I don't comment on your blog but read it often. I obsessively checked for an update today, and am very very happy for you and your family. You are a good advocate of taking control of your health care and, in tandem, educating yourself about what the options are. Quite inspiring.

  2. WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!! That's terrific news.
Your fellow insomniac was up all last night
    (hormones stink!)
and at some point in my overactive, sleep-deprived thoughts, remembered that today was the day you got your results. Welcome to the zero m-spike club. It was certainly a hard-won battle for you no doubt but so glad to hear it
worked. Tim and I will celebrate on your behalf. Congrats Nick!

  3. OH MY GOD! Matt just told me. Had to come read for myself. I might embarrass him a little but he and I both cried for joy for you. OK... so I'll try not to cry like a baby when I see you but if I do, just accept it as me being an emotional female. =) YAH!!! This totally made our night to hear the news.
